Informed by Shona mythological beliefs, that certain people can take on animal form and/or characteristics, this sculpture incorporates the essence of the giraffe in human form.

This lovely example of Bernard's work was purchased by the current owner from a reputable gallery in the UK, which had bought it directly from the artist. The original gallery receipts are being hunted down!

It is in excellent condition, having been recently professionally restored by Guruve.

The piece is signed on the base.

Guruve are delighted to be able to show a genuine work by Bernard Matemera, whose pieces are (sadly) subject to copying.

We only show works we are convinced are genuine. We strongly advise collectors to demand proper provenance with their pieces, such as a photo of the artist with the piece or original gallery documentation dating back to the original purchase from the artist.
