In 2008 (when this picture was painted) in Zimbabwe, there were often food shortages.

"When you see a mealie-meal truck delivering to a certain shop, everyone rushes out to buy because you don't know when you'll see any again. Everyone keeps their eyes and ears open to see what has been delivered where each day.

"You can't get your shopping in one place anymore; you have to spend all day running around getting whatever is available from each different shop."
