This sculpture was purchased from Damian Manuhwa by a respected dealer in 1995. It was later given as a gift to the current owner, who has now reluctantly decided to sell.
This is a striking and powerful example of the late artist's work, and has a magnificent presence. It is a real statement piece.
In many cultures, ceremonies are held before a hunt where the hunters seek to absorb the spirit of their prey. They hope to achieve a successful hunt by thinking like their prey, thereby enabling them to track the animal better, but it also expresses their deep respect for the animals they hunt and their thanks for the lives they take.
