"Someone who takes control of the village and gives advice to the villagers."

An elder of a village is expected to act with dignity and show wisdom based on life's experience; in return, the younger members of the community show him great respect and seek his advice when they are troubled. He is the first point of call in the traditional power structure.

Edward has signed it on the base.

Springstone is the local name for a hard variety of serpentine stone. It is a particularly good sculpture medium, as it has a very even internal structure of small grains of rock; it is dense and has very few flaws. It is the favoured medium for Zimbabwe's most famous sculptors.
