This is a totally charming sculpture by the sadly departed and much missed Fanizani, whose quirky style won him fans worldwide. His sympathetic sculpting style makes even the hardest stone appear as soft as ripe fruit.
Springstone is the local Zimbabwean name for a particularly hard type of serpentine stone. This piece of stone comes from a particular mine where the springstone contains green veins. Fanizani has cleverly highlighted the changing surface depth by moving back and forth across a layer of green veining.
