This is an outstanding and imposing sculpture. Gregory's early years spent sculpting 'fine art' heads and animals are reflected in the delicate precision of her face. Her slim but curvaceous body is treated in a more stylised manner, with the folds of her dress suggested in the facets of the sanded stone. The long straight hair has been finished in Gregory's signature touch, with exceptionally confident use of a grinder.
This is a substantial sculpture by one of the best-known artists of the second generation of Zimbabwean sculptors, and would make a wonderful centrepiece.
