The 'go-away bird' is a native of Zimbabwe, and is also known as the grey lourie. It has a distinctive crest, which rises when it's alarmed.

This piece was originally bought directly from Henry by the respected Matombo Gallery of Harare, Zimbabwe.

Matombo exported it to the USA for Henry Munyaradzi's solo exhibition at Nicole Gallery in Chicago in January 1991, where it remained until 2012 when it was brought to the UK by a private collector for sale through Guruve.

It is in immaculate condition. It is signed on the base. Full Matombo paperwork accompanies the piece, and an original photograph of the piece on display at a Matombo exhibition.

Beware of less scrupulous people than ourselves selling non-authentic 'Henrys' - if the piece or the price looks to good to be true, there's probably a reason for it.
