Henry is the most collectable artist of the Shona sculpture movement, and this is a quintessential 'Henry', capturing as he does the quizzical faces of the two little monkeys under their tufted brows.
This sculpture is being advertised for sale on behalf of a private collector who worked for the British Council in the 1990s. It was bought directly from Henry himself in Zimbabwe in 1991.
The piece is signed 'Henry' on the base. It is in excellent condition for its age - it has been well loved and looked after!
It comes with a copy of the original receipt for the sale from Henry (written on British Council headed paper!), along with a certificate from Guruve.
Beware of less scrupulous people than ourselves selling non-authentic 'Henrys' - if the piece or the price looks to good to be true, there's probably a reason for it.
