'Lemon Opal' Stone
An unusual Henry, with large amounts of natural stone left untouched, apart from the wax finish to make it shine. The iron-rich serpentine stone had weathered (before being worked on) to an attractive golden brown, which is probably why Henry chose to leave it unsanded.
This sculpture is being advertised for sale on behalf of a private collector.
This piece is in good condition (there is some light fading and a few tiny scuffs on the back) - it has been much loved and well looked after.
It was bought from the respected Matombo Gallery in Harare in 1990. The number '45' has been scratched into the back of the sculpture at the base - presumably the original gallery reference number. It comes with the original Matombo Gallery certificate of authenticity, and an original photograph of the piece on display at Matombo. It is signed on the base.
