Ishmael is one of our top young artists. His work is wonderfully abstract and uses a clever combination of angles and curves; here he has chosen to polish the whole sculpture so the shiny smooth surfaces emphasise the confidence of the bold lines. A really eye-catching medium-size piece and great value for an original one-off sculpture.
Fruit serpentine is the local Zimbabwean name for this colourful, slightly translucent type of serpentine stone. It comes from Kwekwe and is of a similar hardness to the black serpentine known as springstone.
