Each year the plant gets bigger, so each loop is a season of growth. The flower is the loop at the top.
This fluid and imaginative sculpture is the largest piece we have from Ishmael this year, and would make a wonderful centrepiece for a garden.
Ishmael was one of two runners-up in the sculpture category of Zimbabwe's National Arts Merit Awards in 2008. This beautiful piece shows why the judges placed him so highly against stiff competition.
Springstone is a hard type of serpentine stone; it is frost-resistant, with densely packed small grains of rock, and is suitable for outdoor display. We would still recommend covering the sculpture during a hard winter though, just for peace of mind.
