Elegant organic lines swirl gracefully around this lovely medium-sized sculpture. Itayi's instantly recognisable style but rather 'flat' style is morphing into a properly three-dimensional approach to sculpture.
Early works in this new style, such as this one, are a very exciting progression. This is an outstanding collection of work from Itayi this year, and we're delighted.
Cobalt stone is the local Zimbabwean name given to this type of serpentine, which is typically a mixture of purple and green. It does not, as far as we know, contain any cobalt.
