Special Time Together
"It is important that married couples and people in long-term relationships spend some quality time together to promote harmony."
This is an absolutely delightful sculpture by Jetro. The composition is well-balanced, the finishing is superb (with nicely contrasting textures, including some of the original surface of the raw stone which has then been waxed), and the material itself is full of interest. Lovely!
Fruit serpentine is the local Zimbabwean name for this colourful variety of serpentine stone. It comes from Kwekwe and is of a similar hardness to the black serpentine known as springstone.
This beautiful example contains many flakes of mica and crystals of iron pyrite that catch the light and glitter in the sun. It gives the stone an almost jewel-like appearance.
