Life Goes On
The continuous movement within the piece reflects the passage of life - childhood, adulthood and old age - and then the replacement of one generation with the next.
A super abstract piece from Munyaradzi, whose pared-down and elegant style has made him one of the outstanding artists of the younger generation of Zimbabwean sculptors.
Springstone is the local Zimbabwean name for a very hard variety of serpentine stone. It is a particularly good sculpture medium, as it has a very even internal structure of small grains of rock; it is dense and has very few flaws. The green lines are veins in the stone.
