'Lemon Opal' Stone
The lady's head is tilted to one side, as she is listening carefully.
A very pleasing sculpture by one of Zimbabwe's best known younger sculptors. It has Norbert's trademark contrast between the rough raw stone of the hair and the smoothly sanded and waxed lines of the face and neck.
Lemon Opal Stone is the local Zimbabwean name for a translucent pale green serpentine stone. It is of a similar hardness to springstone (i.e. a lot harder than what is known as common opal stone, which scratches easily like soapstone). It does NOT contain opals.
