Many bird species form long term partnerships for raising their young, and couples may stay together for many years. They often preen each other's feathers to reinforce their bond.

Peter has chosen to polish the whole sculpture so we may enjoy the beautiful colour and texture within the stone.

Cobalt stone is the local Zimbabwean name given to this type of serpentine, which is typically a mixture of purple and green. It does not, as far as we know, contain any cobalt.
