A lovely example of Peter's work, executed with his customary attention to detail and perfect finishing.

Peter achieves the brushed effect of the feathers by stroking the stone with a blunt rasp (photos of the sculpture process here). The shiny parts have been sanded smooth, heated and clear wax applied, then buffed up to a shine.

This matt white surface really stands out against a dark background, and with clever use of spotlights you can enjoy it at night as well!

Springstone is the local name for a hard variety of serpentine stone. It is dense and has very few flaws.
