The two loops (one above, one below) are the eyes; in between them is the beak, pointing upwards. An owl's head looking up and around.
The is the largest piece in the 2012 collection of Peter's work.
Technically, this style of sculpture is extremely difficult to do because the springstone is very hard and great skill is needed to prevent breakages when removing the inner stone with a punch.
Springstone is frost-resistant and is suitable for outdoor display.
