The person is the straight upright part and the central large loop is their head. One arm reaches up and the other downwards, and the rope twists and turns around him.

Peter was a close runner-up in the sculpture category in Zimbabwe's prestigious National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) in 2009. This elegant and sophisticated work shows why the Zimbabwean arts elite rated him so highly, as do we.

Springstone is the local name for a hard variety of serpentine stone. It is suitable for outdoor display, as it is dense and impermeable and has very few flaws that might be exacerbated by frost action.
