Richard Mupumha Jnr
"Two people who are destined to be together forever because they truly love each other, nothing can separate them."
The real star of the show here is the stone itself, and Richard has wisely kept his work simple to allow full appreciation of the beauty of the material.
Cobalt stone is the local Zimbabwean name given to this type of serpentine, which is typically a mixture of purple and green. It has tiny grains, enabling Richard to create elegant thin leaves coming to sharp points. It does not, as far as we know, contain any cobalt.
We would recommend covering this sculpture during extremely cold weather, as some parts of the sculpture are quite thin.
