A fairly straightforward piece from Tanya! The base is the swan's body, and its elegant neck curves upwards.

The lines of this sculpture are incredibly simple, but Tanyanyiwa has captured the graceful nature of the swan perfectly.

Tanyanyiwa won the Bernard Matemera Foundation 'Artist Of The Year' prize in 2009. His was judged to be the most original piece, and that Tanya was uninfluenced by others around him, which is very hard to achieve. This piece shows that originality continues to this day.

'Leopard rock' is the local Zimbabwean name for a very hard variety of serpentine stone; it's usually green with black spots but this variety is golden brown.
