"The long-standing oppressor finds him- or herself under immense pressure from the ordinary subjects who have gathered their courage and power to free themselves."

The oppressor is represented by the smoother line coming from bottom left to top right; the more twisted line shows the people facing obstacles and then moving upwards to make their challenge on the same level [at the top].

A snub to the critics who might dismiss Zimbabwean sculpture as saccharine sweet, here, in a very abstract work by a cutting-edge sculptor, is overt criticism of the regime and its leader. A brave piece!
