2102 exhibition of Shona sculpture

The venue is the glorious 5-acre garden at Hopleys Nursery in the beautiful village of Much Hadham in Hertfordshire. Hopleys have very helpfully provided a map and directions.

Works by some of the most famous names in Shona sculpture will exhibited alongside the leading lights of the younger generation.

Sculptures on display will include works by:

  • the massively talented Munyaradzi Jeche who just goes from strength to strength and who has a reasonable claim to being Zimbabwe's best young sculptor;
  • perennial favourite Peter Gwisa, one of our most popular artists in 2012;
  • Tonderai Sowa, a recent addition to our gallery and whose work has been a huge hit;
  • Sylvester Mubayi world-famous Zimbabwean sculptor; and
  • Onias Mupumha Guruve's most popular artist (2008 NAMA winner) et al.

We will also be exhibiting sculptures by some of the most famous names in Shona Sculpture on behalf of third party sellers, including:

An online catalogue will be available nearer the time.

Hopleys is a family-run nursery with a 5-acre planted garden. They have an excellent reputation in the plants world, having exhibited at RHS Chelsea Flower Show for many years. We will be transforming the wonderful gardens at Hopleys into a sculpture garden for our annual art exhibition.

There is also a wonderful restaurant with healthy lunches, picnics and cakes and cream teas available. We'll try to negotiate a 10% discount again in the Hopleys Café on our Grand Opening day Saturday 16th for bearers of our exhibition invitations (no promises!).

Much Hadham is one of the prettiest villages in Hertfordshire, About a mile away is Perry Green, where Henry Moore lived and worked and where the Henry Moore Foundation is now based. An outstanding exhibition of Rodin and Moore's work is on all this Summer, which we highly recommend. (Please note you do need to make an appointment to visit the HMF.)
Also nearby is the Gibberd sculpture garden in Harlow.

Any questions, please call Emma or Tim on 01920 872949 or 07956 897978 or email us.
