Guruve's annual exhibition of contemporary African art will be held over the weekend of 20 - 22 June in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire. The venue is the gardens at Hopleys Nursery in the beautiful village of Much Hadham in Hertfordshire. There is a simple map and directions* on the Hopleys website as well. The exhibition will be held on:
We will be displaying works by some of the most famous names in African art alongside the names of the future. As always, the exhibition will have a wide selection of stunning Zimbabwean sculpture, but don't miss the colourful and evocative paintings too. For the first time, Guruve's exhibition has a resident artist! Joining us in person will be Onias Mupumha, recently awarded 'Best Sculptor' by Zimbabwe's National Arts Council. If you'd like to meet him, especially if you are already the proud owner of one of his wonderful sculptures, please come along as he'll be delighted to chat and will also be demonstrating the sculpting techniques.
Many of the works shown on our web gallery will be on display at the exhibition, so this is your chance to come and see and feel and enjoy them in the flesh. Some special pieces will be at the exhibition but are not on the web gallery (yet!). Works on display for the first time will include:
Some pieces will remain on display in the gardens over the summer months. The Hopleys venue is five acres of beautifully planted gardens for you and your family and friends to enjoy. Please bring a picnic if you wish, but there is also a lovely tearoom (with facilities!). Nearby are a number of excellent pubs serving food. We would also encourage you to visit the Henry Moore Foundation in the next village of Perry Green if you want to make a day (or a weekend) of your trip to Hertfordshire - but please note that you need to book with them beforehand. * Please note that the road to Much Hadham from the south (B1004) is closed (again!) this June. Our recommended route is to approach Much Hadham from the north - take the A120 to Little Hadham and turn south. From London, we recommend using the M11 and turning off at the Stanstead Airport junction (J8) then head west on the A120. Remember, if you can't make it to this exhibition, we are organising another event, a group sculpture exhibition with other local sculptors, over the weekend of August 8 - 10. |
