Let's Play, Mama
Boet Nyariri

Springstone

127cm (h)
25cm (w)
25cm (d)

£2,200

Boet won the 3D category of the prestigious NAMA competition in 2010 with this sculpture.

A mother lifts her daughter up on her back.

Boet was on a bus one day when he saw a woman waiting at a busstop with her daughter, who he guessed was maybe 6 or 7 years old. Playfully, they linked arms back-to-back and she lifted her daughter up in the air. Inspired, he rushed home and began working on this wonderful sculpture.

Where many artists make representational sculptures that feel stale, Boet's work is fresh and dramatic. It takes a huge amount of skill to create such detailed and delicate pieces from very hard stone.

Springstone is frost-resistant and is suitable for outdoor display.
