Comforting My Sister
Boet Nyariri

Springstone

59cm (h)
59cm (w)
13cm (d)

34kg

£1,600

This piece is on loan to an exhibition at Exbury Gardens until July.

The younger sister is comforting her elder sister, who was waiting for something that has not yet come, so she is saying, "Don't worry, it will still happen."

An unusual work from Boet, whose pieces are generally tall and willowy. The balanced composition and beautiful detailing combine to create a very pleasing piece.

Boet is the deserving winner of the fiercely contested sculpture category in the prestigious NAMA (National Arts Merit Awards) competition for 2012 (he won in 2010 as well!)
