Mbare Musika
Charles Nkomo

Oil On Canvas

2008

64cm (h)
93cm (w)

£ 695

Musika is the Shona word for market, and Mbare is the biggest and busiest market in Harare, Zimbabwe.

"Especially these days, when there is nothing in the shops, you can go to Mbare and get anything at any time. Though it's crowded, I love it. What would Harare be without Mbare?"

This vivid and vibrant painting is reminiscent of the work of one of the great names in contemporary African art, Professor Ablade Glover of Ghana, although Charles hasn't seen his work.
