Edmore Chijumani
Unfortunately all of the large pieces by Edmore for this year have sold, although we do still have few small fishes left. If you would like us to let you know when we have new works from him, please send us an email with your contact details and we will be in touch. Edmore was born in 1970 in Chimanimani, Zimbabwe. From 1986 to 1990 he worked as a basket weaver. In 1993 he began to learn stone sculpture under the supervision of his brother Morgan Chijumani. Morgan was taught by their late father, who was also a sculptor, based in Chimanimani. Edmore's trademark is sculptures of fish in fruit serpentine, a colourful hard serpentine stone. They are very recognisable and are becoming very collectable as they are included in more and more exhibitions. Edmore's work was part of a group exhibition entitled 'Dialogue in Stone' held at Centre Island, Toronto, Canada in 2006 organised by Talking Stones Gallery. He was also included in a group exhibition held in Delaware, Pennsylvania, USA in September 2006, which featured Dominic Benhura and Richard Mteki amongst others. |
