Bridegroom
Edward Chiwawa

Springstone

113cm (h)
51cm (w)
18cm (d)

113.5kg

£ 8,225

This piece is on loan to an exhibition at Exbury Gardens until July.

"He wears flowers round his neck, waiting for the bride. When the bride arrives, he takes off the flowers and puts them over her neck."

This sculpture is a museum-quality example of Edward's work, in the hardest type of springstone. A larger piece like this stands proud at one of the entrances to the Chapungu Sculpture centre in Harare and is part of the private collection. This piece is a (slightly!) more practical size and is a true collector's gem. Character, strength, power, charm - it's got it all. Wonderful.
