Rainbird
Fanizani Akuda Springstone 54cm (h) 18cm (w) 17cm (d) SOLD The rainbird is the black stork. It is a seasonal visitor to Zimbabwe, and arrives when the rains are due. Understandably, it is a traditional symbol of good luck as both land and people are thirsty by the end of the dry season. To make matters worse, Zimbabwe has suffered a series of droughts in recent decades. Springstone is the local Zimbabwean name for a particularly hard type of serpentine stone. It is black when polished. |
