Proud Lady
Garison Machinjili

Springstone

22cm (h)
17cm (w)
15cm (d)

£220

This lovely little sculpture cleverly combines a 'tribal' feel with the modern style typical of contemporary Zimbabwean sculpture. The facial features are sharply defined using a rasp, and full lips give the face a wonderfully warm expression.

The finishing is in Garison's trademark style, using a rasp so that the surface of the face and neck is covered in small striations, which can be seen clearly in the photographs. The hair is short, with a stippled effect achieved by using a chasing hammer which has little teeth.

A very collectible piece by one of Zimbabwe's best known young sculptors.
