Angel Spirit
Itayi Mupumha

Springstone

135cm (h)
25cm (w)
17cm (d)

£1,300

The graceful wavy lines are the angel's wings while it is flying; the white circle is the eye of the angel looking down at the earth. The angel is bringing the word of God to the people.

This piece has a real presence. Although it is slim, its height makes it quite imposing. Economy of line, so typical of the best of the contemporary Zimbabwean sculptors, keeps it feeling clean and uncluttered.

Itayi is one of our most popular young sculptors, as is his brother Onias.

Springstone is a hard variant of serpentine stone. It is an excellent sculpture medium, as it has a dense internal structure with very few flaws.

Springstone is frost-resistant and is suitable for outdoor display.
