As well as having lovely flowing lines, this sculpture is made from such attractive stone. It is in a very unusual type of serpentine from Chiweshe, where the so-called "opal stone" is mined. This is much harder than convention opal stone, which is not much harder than soapstone, and is beautifully coloured with creamy speckles on a background merging from rich brown to bottle green.
