A Moment Of Reflection
Norbert Shamuyarira

Domboshawa 'Opal' Stone

31cm (h)
22cm (w)
17cm (d)

5kg

SOLD

This lovely white stone is very easy to light in a dramatic fashion - imagine it with a dark background and a single spotlight angled to catch the contours of the face. The weathered surface has a beautiful pink tinge.

This type of stone is quite soft (relative to most of the stones we show) and is dotted with tiny holes as part of its structure, so it is suitable for indoor display only.

Opal stone is the local Zimbabwean name for a particular type of serpentine stone from Chiweshe; the white version is from an area north of Harare called Domboshawa. It does NOT contain opals - beware of other sites whose ignorance leads them to suggest that it does, or that it is semi-precious, or that it is hard like the gemstone.
