Banana Fruit
Onias Mupumha Springstone 76cm (h) 34cm (w) 22cm (d) SOLD The ripening fruit hangs between the protective leaves. There is a beautiful balance to this work. The sweeping lines are elegant and fluid; the minimal use of textured surface creates a nice contrast and serves to highlight the beauty of the polished stone. From every angle it pleases the eye. Our most popular young artist Onias Mupumha, who won the 2008 NAMA prize for the best sculptor in Zimbabwe, has created his best-ever work for us this year, and this sculpture is a delight. Springstone is the local name for a hard variant of serpentine stone. The green veins are even harder than the black stone. Springstone is frost-resistant and suitable for outdoor display. |
