Angel Trumpet
Onias Mupumha

Springstone

SOLD

"Like an angel landing to make a speech."

There is a beautiful balance to this work. The sweeping lines are elegant and fluid; the minimal use of textured surface creates a nice contrast and serves to highlight the beauty of the polished stone. From every angle it pleases the eye.

A delightful medium-sized sculpture from our most popular young artist Onias Mupumha, who won the prestigious 2008 NAMA (National Arts Merit Awards) prize for the best sculptor in Zimbabwe.

Springstone is the local name for a hard variant of serpentine stone. It is a particularly good sculpture medium, as it has a very even internal structure of small grains of rock and very few flaws. It is the favoured medium for Zimbabwe's most famous sculptors.
