Anticipating Pollination
Onias Mupumha

Springstone

104cm (h)
27cm (w)
14cm (d)

26.5kg

£1,400

This piece is on loan to an exhibition at Exbury Gardens until July.

A newly-opened flower waiting for pollination.

This is a wonderful example of Onias' award-winning work, with flowing lines and smooth surfaces combined with clever and restrained use of contrasting textures, inspired by nature.

Onias is our most popular young artist and he won the prize for the best sculpture in the visual arts section of the prestigious National Arts Merit Awards of Zimbabwe (NAMA) for 2007. He was our Artist in Residence in 2008.

Springstone is a frost-resistant type of serpentine and is suitable for outdoor display. The green veins are even harder than the black stone. However, we would recommend covering this piece during a hard frost for peace of mind, as some parts of the sculpture are quite thin.
