Together As One
Peter Gwisa

The straighter upward line (towards the back of the sculpture) represents a man and the more curved line a woman; he shelters and protects her.

This is a lovely small sculpture by one of the most exciting young artists working in Zimbabwe today. It expresses a very simple idea in very abstract form in an accessible way, and reflects how talented Peter Gwisa is.

Springstone is the local name for a hard variant of serpentine stone. It is a particularly good sculpture medium, as it has a very even internal structure of small grains of rock; it is dense and has very few flaws.
