Peter was one of four finalists in the 8th NAMA (National Arts Merit Awards) competition in 2009. His piece Dancing Flames (pictured left) earned a Special Mention, suggesting he missed being the winner by the tightest of margins. We added Peter to our stable of artists a couple of years ago, as his work is technically very impressive but also conceptually fresh, and it's great to see our judgement reinforced by the great and good of the Zimbabwean arts elite yet again.

Peter was born in 1980. In 1995, Peter joined well-known sculptor Raymond Chirambadare to train to be a sculptor. Peter says, "I was ready to learn because I was talented in art. Raymond was kind and patient and so I managed to learn easily ... Now [it's] my career for life."

Peter assisted Raymond for five years and they worked together as partners for a further four years until Raymond passed away in 2006. Peter now works independently at Chitungwiza Arts Centre.

Peter's work has been displayed in galleries in Germany, South Africa, the Netherlands and the United States amongst others.
