During sculpting, Richard found a flaw in the stone and had to make a choice whether to abandon it altogether or to remove the weakened area. He decided on the latter but he had to delve quite deep into the stone to remove the flaw, and as a result one side has a concave area. It makes the piece a little unbalanced and for this reason it is less expensive than it would be if it was perfect. You can see the affected area more closely in the photographs.
