This is the first substantial sculpture we have had from Richard for a few years, and it is a very impressive piece.

The pared down style (the deep lines are done with a grinder) gives it a simplicity that is reminiscent of the art deco aesthetic. There is movement there, and a crisp contrast with the section of white textured stone created using a chasing hammer.

Even the stone itself is very unusual - a dappled dark grey-brown serpentine that comes from somewhere near Guruve, the town in northern Zimbabwe that we named our company after.

A piece this size (but not as nice) would be over £5,000 in a Cape Town gallery.
