Lot's Wife
Rufaro Murenza

Springstone

110cm (h)
20cm (w)
15cm (d)

17kg

£900

This piece is on loan to an exhibition at Exbury Gardens until July.

This sculpture is inspired by the biblical story of Lot's wife, who was punished by the angels of deliverance for failing to follow their instructions: the angels rescued them from Sodom just before God released his 'divine judgement' upon the city and they told the family not to look back, but Lot's wife (who probably wasn't very happy at having her home town razed to the ground) couldn't resist and she was changed into a pillar of salt.

Interesting how this theme crops up so often in ancient myth (Orpheus immediately springs to mind) so let this piece be a reminder not to look back and regret things.

Springstone is frost-resistant and is suitable for outdoor display.
