Graceful Movement
Washington Matafi Springstone 28cm (h) 33cm (w) 26cm (d) 13kg SOLD This is a very elegant sculpture with graceful clean lines. It is the smallest piece of the selection of work from Washington this year. Washington was one of four finalists in the sculpture category in the prestigious National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) 2009. Springstone is the local name for a hard variant of serpentine stone. It is a particularly good sculpture medium, as it has a very even internal structure of small grains of rock; it is dense and has very few flaws. It is the favoured medium for Zimbabwe's most famous sculptors. |
