The protective plant that has inspired this wonderful sculpture is known as mukonde in the Shona language of Zimbabwe. Charles says,

“Most Shona people believe in [the power of] this plant. They take it from the forest when it’s small and replant in their kumusha [rural home]. Then the place is protected from lightning and evil spirits.”

This impressive and elegant sculpture is one of the outstanding artworks in our 2024 collection. It would make a super centrepiece in a flowerbed, as it’s interesting from every angle. We would recommend placing it in a spot where you can walk around the sculpture and appreciate it from all sides.

Springstone is a hard variety of serpentine stone. It is dense and impermeable and has very few flaws that might be exacerbated by frost action. Therefore, it is suitable for outdoor display even in colder climates.
