“When you swim against the flow of the water, it can carry you in unexpected directions, and not necessarily the way you had intended to go.”

Anyone who decides to become a full-time artist is embracing an unpredictable life. Abandoning the certainties of a monthly salary may feel like stepping blindly into swirling water. The winding loops of the sculpture echo the path less trodden, with unknown route and destination.

Charles Kowo makes a welcome return to Guruve’s gallery this year. Charles’ sculptures are elegant and fluid, and this is a super example of his work.

Springstone is a hard variety of serpentine stone. It is dense and impermeable and has very few flaws that might be exacerbated by frost action. Therefore, it is suitable for outdoor display even in colder climates.
