The small central circle is the child. It is enclosed by a loop of stone representing the mother’s body, and the top loop is her head.
A simple but very clever reimagining of the timeless theme of the mother and child.
Charles Kowo makes a welcome return to Guruve’s gallery this year. Charles creates pleasingly simple, uncluttered and very striking sculptures, and this is a super example of his work. It’s a very versatile size, and could work well in either an outdoor or an indoor setting.
Unsurprisingly, this hard variety of serpentine stone has been named ‘avocado’ after its striking pale green and yellow colouration.
The colours in the stone are entirely natural, merely enhanced by the application of a coat of clear wax.
