Colleen Madamombe is Zimbabwe’s best known female sculptor. She is most famous for her sculptures of large African ladies. Through their vivacious nature and flamboyant clothes she captures the vibrancy of sub-Saharan African life and culture.
The current owner acquired this piece at auction in 2016. Fortunately, it still has its original Chapungu Sculpture Park (Harare) certificate dated 28 Jan 1998. Combining this excellent provenance with the facial features and style of signature, we are certain that this is a genuine Colleen Madamombe sculpture.
