“Someone who takes care of things cautiously. A woman who puts God first in everything she does, and she speaks the truth.”
A senior lady who does and says nothing without thinking about it first. Such caution is wise indeed for anyone living in a culture where witchcraft beliefs are still strong. Although modern Zimbabwe is ostensibly a Christian culture, a hidden layer of traditional beliefs is overlaid. Hence the wisdom of thinking before you speak, to avoid causing offence.
A gorgeous little Chiwawa sculpture of a lady, with his trademark double-ringed eyes and square-edged nose. It provides an affordable opportunity to own a piece by one of Zimbabwe’s few remaining ‘first-generation’ sculptors from the Shona sculpture art movement. A great entry-level collector’s piece. Edward has signed it on the base.
This wonderful mottled green stone is a rediscovered variety of serpentine stone. All colouration in the stone is entirely natural.
