“A mother who has a child, she is delighted, and she is delighted to watch them grow up.”
Edward captures the pride and compassion in a mother’s gaze as she watches her little one take on the world.
This is a lovely example of work by one of Zimbabwe’s few remaining ‘first-generation’ sculptors.
Edward has signed this piece on the base.
This glorious bright green stone is verdite, a very hard and expensive semi-precious stone that is much prized by Zimbabwean sculptors (and collectors!) for its beautiful intense green colour. The internal texture of the stone is an absorbing marbling of colours.
