“The chief has a way of presenting himself in terms of leading the area. He looks stern and attentive, inspecting and keeping an eye on everything.”

This sculpture shows a serious man, whose authority and responsibility are stamped on his face. A chief should conduct himself so  he earns the respect of his people. A leader has no real authority without the support of the people they rule.

Verdite is a semi-precious stone mined in Zimbabwe. This particular variety is known as ‘golden verdite’ as it’s less intensely green than standard verdite stone. It is very hard and is suitable for outdoor display in all climates.
